Wings of Fire, book by book

Young dragons from rival tribes try to end a war, then keep the peace. So far there are 16 books: three five-book arcs and a fourth just begun. The arcs: The Dragonet Prophecy (1–5), The Jade Mountain Prophecy (6–10), The Lost Continent Prophecy (11–15) and The Forgotten Isles Prophecy (16, from 2026). Fights and deaths continue after book 1, and arc 3 is the mildest. Extras include 2 Legends novels, 5 Winglets and graphic novels.

the big questionIs Wings of Fire OK for my 9-year-old?Yes, if you read book 1 together: it’s the goriest of the series. Later books have much less gore and usually work from 10.
